Hailing from Cleveland, OH, Ryan Hetrick's sound and lyricism come from the grit of growing up in the Rustbelt and spending many years immersed in the influential music scene of Athens, GA where he worked in music venues like the 40 Watt Club, and playing late nights in the summertime at sweaty DIY spots in the South. After several years in Athens, Hetrick moved West; spending many years in San Francisco and Portland. Living, traveling, and playing shows all over the majestic West Coast influenced new directions in music and life.

Hetrick returned to Cleveland late in 2017 to finish graduate school and be closer to family. Along the way, he has been playing in rooms around town, cultivating his brand of authentic Americana, rootsy, psyche-folk ever since. 

Ryan Hetrick and the Electric formed in the Spring of 2024. Previous songs written as a solo artist have taken on new forms with the sonic textures and expanded dynamics of a full band. 

In July 2024, Hetrick and his new bandmates recorded several songs at Playroom Studios in North Ridgeville, OH. The first single, “The Man on the TV” was released on Thanksgiving Day and can be found on all streaming platforms. Several other songs are slated for release early in 2025.

Ryan Hetrick & The Electric will return to the studio to record some newer tunes at the beginning of 2025! So stay on the lookout for new releases and more info on the forthcoming, "A Shimmering Light LP"
