Having grown up on the west side of Cleveland within a mixed family Kwas-E sees life from many different perspectives. With an immigrant father from Durban, South Africa and a mother from Lorain, Ohio he takes the cultural insight from both sides of his family tree and instills it into his craft. Due to behavioral issues at a young age in school and at home, kwas would be sent to stay with his grandmother in the suburbs on weekends and this is where he fell in love with various classic records from the 1970’s and before. Eventually this would have a hand in his knack for sampling in his productions. Having pursued music through his adolescent years, once he graduated high school, Kwas ended up joining together with friends to create the collective Easy Living Culture which is still a growing local Cleveland entity today. Now based in Old Brooklyn, Ohio, Kwas continues to deliver witty wordplay and heavy hitting beats on his records alongside his fellow ELC artists that intend to evoke emotion from the listener in a strong way that is abrasive but also very sensitive.
