In 1994, 38-year-old school teacher Robert Pollard & his merry band recorded Bee Thousand in a Dayton, Ohio, basement on a 4-track cassette recorder. This improbable rock classic became an enormously influential album: Pitchfork and Spin have called it one of the best records of the ’90s, and Amazon picked Bee Thousand as #1 on their list of the 100 Greatest Indie Rock Albums Of All Time. A legendary live band with a rabid following, the Washington Post called GBV “the Grateful Dead equivalent for people who like Miller Lite instead of acid!” With 14 studio albums already under their belts in 6 years, the band’s present-day line-up is nothing less than a new Golden Age of GBV.

The Sueves
The Sueves are a three piece band that originally formed in Chicago in 2011. They released a few tapes of crudely recorded rock’n’roll that floated around the local market until Hozac Records released their first 7 inch in 2015: “Liquid Hounds b/w Bricks’n’Bones”. The band followed up the single with two LPs through Hozac: 2016’s “Change Your Life”, and 2018’s “RIP Clearance Event”. In 2020, guitarist/singer Joe Schorgl moved to Cleveland while drummer Tim Thomas and bassist Rob Piskac remained in Chicago. Joe started his own label called Magicatalog and self-released their third LP, “Tears of Joy”, in 2021. All Magicatalog releases are packaged in screen printed sleeves that include comics created by Joe. Despite the distance, the three friends continue to do what they love most and they have plans to start working on a new record in 2024.
